Helping Raska with the gift of sight

From Terrance Kellogg, Outreach Coordinator:
Raksa is one of our seventy children at the Samrong Farm Orphanage. She is going blind and needs a special examination, probably in Thailand, which we estimated would cost a thousand dollars. She is also the bravest sweetest child I have ever met. Upon hearing of her situation Kirstin, Debbie and Nancy from the Metabolic Research Center in Bluffton, SC pledged $250 each which John Soileau matched to cover her travel and passport expenses. Whatever comes from the examination these three angels have left an indelible impression on this child’s heart. Thank you Kristin, Nancy,  Debbie and John.

This is Raksa’s story:

Hello John, Debbie, Kristin and Nancy,

RaksaI am Raksa. I am 10 years-old. In my family are 5 members , my mom, grandmother, and two sisters. I am from Kompong Cham province. My mom is in Phnom Penh because she must work in a restaurant. I needed to live with my grandmother at the province. My grandmother cannot take care of all the kids she had and there was not enough money for all . So,  she decided to find a place for put me to live and study. She found this place for me by one kind person who can save kids in all parts of the country, is Papa Vyrak, in charge of Samrong Children Farm. I started here around 2015. Before I was here around one month, my eyes start to be a problem already. They try to find the good place for me but it still doesn’t work. I feel like this world is not kind to me. My family and Papa Vyrak try to find some good place to examine me but anything costs too much money.

Hopefully, I can see this beautiful world clearly again as everybody.
Thank you to help me do this. You are kind to me.
